Ladies, Wine & Design Birmingham returns for 2020

The Birmingham Chapter of Ladies, Wine & Design returns this February with a year-long programme of events celebrating creative women in the West Midlands.

The Birmingham Chapter of Ladies, Wine & Design returns this February with a year-long programme of exciting events, talks and workshops celebrating female creatives in the city and wider region.

Ladies, Wine & Design is a not-for-profit movement founded in New York by Jessica Walsh, and is now present in over 280 cities worldwide. It exists to champion and empower those who identify as women, by creating a community in which female creatives are supported in gaining an equal footing with their male peers.

Members of the BDF team and freelance graphic designers; Lisa Barrett and Lindsay Baker, have been the hosts of the Birmingham chapter since late 2018, with the aim of building the profile of the female design community here in the region. Their 2020 programme will see a host of fun, informal and inspirational events offering women – who are shaping the creative industry in the West Midlands – the opportunity to meet and collaborate.

The packed programme is set to include collage, typography and 3D making workshops, a female-led studio trail across Birmingham, panel talks discussing the issues facing women in design, as well as a maker’s market featuring some of the city’s leading female designer-makers and artists.

2020 kicks off with an informal meet-up to celebrate the first anniversary of the LW&D Brum relaunch on Thursday 6 February, 6pm – 8pm @ The Ruin, Digbeth.

Admission is free and open to anyone who defines themselves as a woman and who works or studies in the creative sector.
